Earlier this summer my friend, Luisa, asked me if I would photograph her wedding in Jersey. She was marrying Michael in the most amazing location overlooking St Ouen’s beach on the west coast of the beautiful island of Jersey. I have to admit I was a little nervous about photographing a friend and also being a guest at the same time, but I was also very honoured that she had asked me to capture her most stunning Jersey wedding.
They both wanted natural and relaxed pictures and also that I would be able to enjoy myself as a guest. My husband, Alvin and several friends would also be there so I knew it was going to be a different wedding. It was a very hot July day and the ceremony was being held around the pool area in front of their home, just stunning.
As Luisa and Michael were both getting ready at their home we had to do a lot of ‘sneaking around’ to avoid them seeing each other before the wedding and Luisa, myself and the bridesmaids headed to the nearby St Ouen’s beach for some photographs. I do love a beach shot and unfortunately don’t really get much chance as I live in rural Oxfordshire but I was determined we were going to the beach. The shots at the beach with Luisa and her daughters, step daughter and nieces were some of my favourite shots of the day.
After the ceremony, guests gathered around the pool area for champagne. Meanwhile Luisa, Michael and myself found a shady corner against the sweet peas for some couple shots followed by family photographs.
Mary, Wow, the photos are fabulous and so natural, We are just delighted.
I did put my camera down for the meal and enjoy a glass of champagne and after the speeches I persuaded Luisa and Michael to head to a nearby field for a few minutes for some golden hour sunset shots.
The party continued into the evening with dancing and a most amazing first dance by Luisa and Michael. A great Jersey wedding with a fantastic friend.
