I love natural, family photographs, capturing children at play and ignoring the camera. A few years ago, I used to work in a photography studio for another company and families came for their family photo shoot with young children and often the parents were stressed as the children were being ‘naughty’ or ‘playing up for the camera’. Sometimes young children found the experience overwhelming and I just knew that I wanted to do my family photography differently.
I chose to specialise in fun, family photography in natural environments, whether it is your home/garden or at a favourite park or woods. My style of photography is called lifestyle family photography and all that means really is that I will capture your family doing something you love, interacting with each other in a natural way. I ask children to play games and make the photo shoot fun.
My photo shoot with this lovely family in Henley on Thames started at their home where we photographed the little boy with his grandparents. I asked him to run and jump on Grandma’s knee, rather than sit and give me a cheesy smile. He thought the whole experience was a game and we capture some lovely natural shots.
We brought his bike to the river and play area in Henley on Thames and his father wanted to incorporate the bridge and river in the background. The shot of father and son running along the tow path is one of my all time favourite family images, full of natural fun and laughter.
We played with the leaves, chased his Father with his bike and wandered along to Marsh Lock on Henley Riverside on a bitterly cold winter’s day.
