Last year I had the opportunity to work with lovely couples who invited me to photograph their weddings. I visited beautiful barn and stately home wedding venues, such as Merriscourt in the Cotswolds, Crown Inn, Pishill, Bix Manor, Phyllis Court, The Elvetham, Bisham Abbey, Danesfield House and the wonderful Wasing Park, to name a few. One of my favourites was a marque wedding in the Bride’s family garden near Henley on the hottest day of the year.
I also did my first Scottish wedding, for the daughter of my lovely friend, Cathie. Being a guest as well as a photographer is very different, but I resisted my first glass of champagne until the first dance. I wish I could photograph more weddings with men in kilts!
I shed tears at speeches, boogied with my camera to first dances, helped brides into their dresses, looked for missing flowers, had a laugh with the guests, answered a last minute rescue call to cover a New Year’s Eve wedding and photographed a bride and groom with donkeys, which was hilarious.
A bit soppy here, but I love what I do and I am happy that more couples are finding me and loving my work. I am looking forward to this year and dates are filling up, so please get in touch if you are looking for a wedding photographer.
Here are a few of my favourite images, images that I feel reflect me as a photographer and what I look for during the day.
