Last August, on one of the hottest days of the summer, I had the pleasure of capturing Emma and Josh’s wedding in a very elegant marquee in Emma’s parents’ garden near Henley on Thames in Oxfordshire. Such a stunning location, with lots of nooks and crannies for photographs. I love a marquee wedding at home, it just gives you the freedom to do your own thing and it is a perfect, relaxed way to host a wedding.
After Emma and Josh booked me for their wedding, we did a pre wedding shoot in woodlands near their home and I knew they were going to be a fun couple to photograph. They had originally met in the sixth form at school and their paths had crossed again several years later.
Emma looked so beautiful in her Impression wedding gown. Her Mum and Aunt are very creative and had prepared lots of individual touches to the decor in the marque and garden. Emma’s Mum is a jewellery designer and had made beautiful silver hand made bangles as a keepsake for the female guests which doubled as napkin rings. The marquee had been beautifully decorated in a blue and white theme with silver candelabras on each table.
They were married in Shiplake Church, a short drive in a vintage car from from the house. Emma and Josh were a pleasure to photograph, and it was obvious and delightful to see how much they love each other. We made use of the secluded and shaded woodland areas in the garden for the bridal portraits.
The joy of a marquee wedding is we could pop outside for a 5 minute photo session to the field behind their home for sunset photographs before the speeches.
They started the evening with a ceilidh band which is a great way to get guests off their seats and join in the fun. A fantastic wedding.
